The Talanton (Greek: Τάλαντον), also called Simantro, is one of the oldest liturgical instruments of the Orthodox Church. Its rhythmic sound has called monks and faithful to prayer for centuries – in monasteries on Mount Athos as well as in Orthodox communities worldwide.
